Eduardo Lapetina grew up studying medicine in Buenos Aires, moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to continue carrying out research in the 1970s as the political situation in Argentina worsened. Roughly twenty years ago, Eduardo’s multiple sclerosis worsened and he could no longer carry out his research. Eduardo began to paint, and over the last twenty years has developed an abstract style of painting, in which paints move freely with the thoughts in his mind. This project looks at the process behind Eduardo’s works of art, how he approaches his work, and what it has meant to him over the last twenty years. For Eduardo, his paintings are a way for him to reach out to the world and to try to comprehend it, rather than to step away from it.
